Volunteer
Make Your Difference
Volunteers provide countless hours of support for the mission of Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice and for our community. There are many ways of volunteering. Please review the list below for a description of each opportunity to see if your interests, skills and availability match any of our volunteering needs.
Administrative
This opportunity is located in our New London office and generally consists of filing, sorting, collating, copying, assembling packets, addressing and stuffing mailings, data entry and more. We welcome administrative volunteers any weekday, generally for one or two hours at a time.
Front Desk
Also located in our New London office, front desk volunteers greet visitors and help with small administrative projects (no phone or computer work) at the agency’s front desk. Shifts are available weekday mornings.
Good Day Respite
This program provides a safe and enjoyable environment for individuals with memory loss, while allowing supporting caregivers much-needed time off. Supervised volunteers assist with the program, which offers a healthy lunch and snacks, activities such as crafts and games, entertainment, special guests and more. Good Day Respite is offered throughout the year on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church in New London. Typical volunteer shifts are 9:45am – 12:15pm or 12:00 – 3:00pm.
Renaissance Shoppe
Created to raise funds and awareness for Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice, The Renaissance Shoppe sells fine quality antiques, furniture, estate pieces, jewelry and more, all of which have been generously donated. Open several days each week, volunteers are needed for all hours of operation. Typical shifts are 10:00am – 1:00pm or 1:00 – 4:00pm.
Hospice
Trained hospice volunteers go into homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes and hospitals to offer support or just be with a patient. They sit and talk with or listen to patients and family members in need of a caring ear, engage in patient hobbies, and provide brief respite care to full-time caregivers. They sometimes help with bereavement support as well. Because of the special needs of hospice patients, there is a required training program for hospice volunteers, which is offered annually or semi-annually if the demand is present.
