Lake Sunapee VNA Celebrates 17th Women’s Luncheon
On May 18, 2016 at Colby-Sawyer College, Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice celebrated its 17th annual "Women Who Make A Difference Luncheon", honoring local women and organizations for exceptional community service and raising funds for the agency’s Pediatric Program. Jessica Lahey, Guest Speaker and author of NY Times Best-Selling book, “The Gift of Failure”: How the Best Parents Learn To Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed”, informed and inspired an audience of more than 220.
The luncheon was fun and inspiring under the leadership of event founder, Gail Matthews, and a dedicated committee: Ellen Brownson, Mary Lambert, Abby Peel, Jane Peel, Cathy Raymond, Jan Sahler, Lynn Solomon, Beth Swanson, Tanya Wilkie. Music, including the traditional opening songs performed by the 4 th grade chorus from New London Elementary School, and a beautiful a cappella version of “Over the Rainbow” by Courtney Lauster, senior at Kearsarge Regional High School, added to the festivities.
The highlight of the event were the annual awards. The “Above & Beyond Business Award” was presented to M. J. Harrington & Co. Jewelers of Newport, NH. Callan Rees, Junior at Mount Royal Academy in Sunapee, was honored with the “High School Student Who Makes A Difference Award”. Charen Urban of Newport was named the prestigious 2016 “Woman Who Makes A Difference”. We thank the many generous sponsors and supporters who once again made the event a great success and extend particular gratitude to our “Star” and Angel” sponsors: Ellie Snyder, Sheridan Danforth, LaValley Building Supply and Mascoma Savings Bank for their exception generosity.
