Donald A. Eberly, MD, FACS, has been appointed Chair of the Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice Board of Directors for 2017-2018. Eberly, a long-time resident of New London, retired in 2016 after 36 years as a general surgeon at New London Hospital. He also served on the New London Hospital Board from 1990-1998. Eberly received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and attended medical school at the University of Florida. He brings not only a great depth of knowledge and experience in health care, he also has an exceptional commitment to the wellness of our community. Read More

Good Day Respite is a day program run by Lake Sunapee VNA that supports adults with mild to moderate memory loss and their caregivers. A Licensed Nursing Assistant oversees the program, which meets throughout the year on Mondays and Thursdays at Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church in New London and on Fridays at United Methodist Church in Lebanon.

Alan Kono, MD, FACC, of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Heart & Vascular Center, will be the featured speaker at the LSRVNA Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 7th. Dr. Kono is Medical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy program and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Critical Care unit at DHMC. His clinical and research interests are focused on advanced heart failure, diastolic heart failure, cardiology-oncology, hypothermia in sudden cardiac arrest, and palliative care and translational medicine in delivering optimal care. Dr. Kono, who works collaboratively with the LSRVNA Palliative Care Team, will speak on "The Role of Palliative Care in the Treatment of Advanced Cardiac Disease."
Free and open to the public, the LSRVNA Annual Meeting will be held in the Sugar River Bank Community Room at 10 North Main Street in Newport from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. In addition to Dr. Kono’s presentation, the meeting will include remarks by the agency’s CEO and Board Chair, as well as the presentation of two very special awards. Lights refreshments will be served.

New London Oddfellows open their hearts again
Heidelberg Lodge IOOF #92 (a.k.a. Oddfellows) of New London continued its long-standing support of Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice by presenting its annual donation, which was gratefully accepted by Jim Culhane, President and CEO, on January 12. The Lodge supports local needs with the significant funds raised at its annual Christmas Auction, a 22-year tradition.
Heidelberg Lodge hails from the fact that before it was incorporated as New London, the town was originally called Heidelberg. Oddfellows have followed the guiding principles of friendship, love and truth in their service to the community and people in need. With approximately 10,000 Oddfellows Lodges in 26 countries, the New London Lodge, founded in 1895, is proud to be among them!

November Events to Benefit Hospice Care
November is Hospice and Palliative Care Month, which means the 11th Annual Craft Fair and the 28th Annual Hospice Dinner are right around the corner. Both events are held each year to benefit Hospice Care at Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice (LSRVNA).
